If north’s down, where’s south?
Up.
In this simple but challenging game, you are shown a compass point (e.g. north) along with its direction (e.g. down). Given this, you need to find the direction of the next point shown (e.g. south), before time runs out.
You need to score a target number of correct answers to complete each level of the game. There are 50 levels to progress through, which become increasingly challenging as the target score and game speed increase, or questions from a more difficult set are asked.
You can configure the game to sync progress between your Windows 10 devices (not always instant) and remove ads for a small fee on the settings page.

To many, the Xbox One S is one of the most beautifully designed consoles that Microsoft has ever put on the market, but why is this? The answer lies within a key part of the design team for the project – Andrew Kim.
Kim, known as an important “visual and product” designer for the company, came to become known after creating and publishing his design concepts for the rebranding of Microsoft in 2012 – dubbed “The Next Microsoft.” He was then hired by the company and logically placed within their design department. He was first responsible for working on the Xbox One S and is now is designing the HoloLens project.

Microsoft recently leaked the keys to the Secure Boot kingdom, allowing users to install alteate operating systems on devices locked down by Secure Boot.
On PCs this was not much of an issue, as most motherboards allowed users to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS in any case, but it was expected to allow hackers to install other operating systems on Windows Phones and Windows RT tablets.
Now hacker Triszka Balázs has demonstrated Android Marshmallow running on the Lumia 525. It is not clear if he is using this exploit or another, as he writes that he has a “reset vector exploit only for S4 SOC series” and that any device that supports WP Inteal for bootloader unlock can now run Android.
He noted however that it was hard work to get all the drivers working, and that only getting the Lumia 520/525 screen to work too a few months.

After GM, a Lyft investor, expressed interest in buying the company, Lyft hired investment bank Qatalyst to solicit competing offers from other potential buyers. According to the report from Recode, Lyft approached Microsoft in addition to Google, Apple and others. While Lyft’s latest funding round valued the company at $5.5 billion, Lyft was asking about $9 billion in a buyout offer. As expected, Microsoft was not interested in Lyft and rejected their offer.

Halo 5’s next update has just been detailed on Halo Waypoint, and it includes the long awaited (and much requested) content browser. The content browser was originally shown off at RTX 2016, and it allows users to search for (and download) Forge content for the game. This makes it easier than ever to get new maps, game modes, and more.

According to Andy Dudynsky, Halo 5’s community manager, the team is currently working on putting the finishing touches on the content browser. He also mentioned that more information about the content browser will be coming out soon, but showed a picture of the content browser’s search UI first.

Last month Microsoft released firmware for the Lumia 950 and 950 XL which enabled the long-awaited double tap to wake feature on them.
The rollout has been proceeding slowly around the world, but has not reached the white shores of UK yet.
Today we are however happy to report that while you can not yet get the firmware OTA, the UK CV version of firmware update 01078.00053.16236.35014 is now available on Microsoft servers to download using the Windows Device Recovery Tool.
Note that this does involve wiping your device, so a back-up before to allow a restore afterwards is essential.
Including Double Tap to Wake this update brings:
Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not retuing any results.

Just a few weeks after the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft released Windows 10 Build 14393.82 to Windows Insiders for PCs and Mobile devices. Microsoft released the update via a cumulative update for Windows 10 PCs (KB3176932). However, the company re-released the same build last night with an additional bug fix with KB3176934. Microsoft provided a changelog for the second cumulative update, but the company just released the full changelog for the first cumulative update. According to the changelog, build 14393.82 improves the reliability of Network Controller, DNS Server, and Group Managed Service Accounts. In addition to this, Microsoft has also improved the reliability of Inteet Explorer, PowerShell, the Windows Keel, Windows Store, and Active Directory with build 14393.82.

Earlier this week, Microsoft released the first Redstone 2 for Windows 10 Mobile devices. The company pushed out build 14905 to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring. Unfortunately, some Windows Insiders weren’t able to get the update on their Windows 10 Mobile devices. Following several reports from Windows Insiders, Microsoft’s Dona Sarker confirmed the issue on Twitter, stating that the company is investigating the issue:

Microsoft has just updated its family safety service for Windows Users on Windows 10 with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
The new update to the service now allows users to manage all linked accounts for Windows and Xbox devices from one centralised location, add multiple time limits and filter the Windows store according to age limitations.
An understated feature of this new update is the ability to block the use of other browsers other than Edge or Inteet Explorer on children’s profiles. This ability stems from blocking a loophole in the “restrict websites” feature set. Since the ability to restrict websites is based on your Microsoft account and therefore only affects web-browsers which make use of the MSA, Microsoft now blocks other browsers from functioning on child accounts which have browsing limits based on them – limiting the use of the web to Edge and Inteet microsoft news...

Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) has been developing a Coexistence Test Plan for new, non-standards-based LTE technologies that will fairly share unlicensed spectrum with Wi-Fi. Microsoft joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Broadcom in a letter to WFA expressing their support for this work, and appreciation of the progress to date. Microsoft also shared their conces in this joint letter to WFA. Read about them below.
First, LTE-U Forum members continue to oppose the inclusion of Wi-Fi links that operate at low-signal levels into the testing scenarios. Wi-Fi’s ability to operate at low-signal levels is one of the key reasons why an incredible number of simultaneous users can take advantage of the technology.
